Local Outreach Programs
Women & Children's Hospital NICU ProjectThe NFRC is proud to collaborate with the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Women and Children’s Hospital to encourage parents of newborns to read with their infants. Through this program, the NFRC provides new books and has parents or caregivers in the NICU unit voice record a favorite book. When a parent or caregiver is unable to be in attendance at the hospital and the infant is in distress, the nurses will be able to play back the recording, calming and soothing the baby.

Habitat for HumanityThe NFRC is proud to be a part of Habitat for Humanity Buffalo. Through this program, our organization presents local families with a basket of books at the dedication of their home built by Habitat for Humanity. Recently, the NFRC added another piece to our support of home literacy: we are donating bookcases along with a basket of books appropriate for the children occupying each home.

Little Free Library Project
The NFRC is proud to be a part of the Little Free Library project to inspire a love of reading and provide access to books 24/7 in areas where books are scarce. We will continue to set up Little Free Libraries across the WNY area in various neighborhoods throughout our community. We will continue to place attractive, free-standing kiosks in accessible areas and inviting anyone to take a book or donate a book for others to enjoy. |
International Outreach Program
Outreach Project in the Dominican Republic
Photos of books and notebooks donated by NFRC that were delivered to the Dominican Republic over the summer. These items were greatly appreciated by Pastor Kendall and his team in Cuba, (the barrio) Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, our International Outreach initiative.
Thanks to all NFRC members who donated items. We will continue to collect Spanish language books for children and young adults and new school supplies at NFRC events throughout the 2019-20 school year so we can continue this Outreach effort. For questions, please contact [email protected].
