The NFRC Does It Again!
Congratulations to the NFRC on their receipt of the International Literacy Association (ILA) Honor Council Award. Niagara Frontier Reading Council is proud to have received this award again for the 2018-2019 year, making this the 17th year we have received this award! This year, only four local councils in New York State received honor council designation. This is an incredible accomplishment.
The Honor Council Award annually recognizes councils that organize and conduct well-rounded programs serving the council members, the community, the state/provincial council, and the International Literacy Association. Councils are recognized for accomplishments of the previous year. The application required submitting summaries and proof of meeting the following criteria:

- Newsletter-The Spotlight digital newsletter
- Buffalo Zoo Earth Day Book Giveaway
- Habitat for Humanity Book Project
- Liaisons across many WNY school districts
- Contribute to Dominican Republic Mission Outreach by providing materials, funds to purchase school supplies.
- Donate an ILA membership to assist with professional growth.
- All officers and board members are ILA members
- Host a Membership Campaign- Western New York Children’s Book Expo Membership Event
- Submit a Long-Range Plan
- Hold council meetings
