The first NFRC's first Little Free Library (LFL) was installed at the Pendelton Town Hall on December 13, 2017. The project leaders were long-time NFRC members Renney Staples and Judy Bradbury. Paul Lyons generously donated his time and carpentry skills to build the LFL. A special thank you to all involved. Check out our LFL Outreach page to learn more about this ongoing NFRC Outreach program, or visit the Little Free Library website to learn more about this project! If you're interested in making a donation for materials or if you would like to volunteer your time and build one for the NFRC, please let us know!

Join us for our annual literacy event at the Buffalo Zoo! We will be giving out free books to children and literacy information to parents! Date: June 27, 2015 Time: 10:00 - 4:00 Location: The Buffalo Zoo Don’t Scrap Those Used School Supplies! The Nicaragua Mission Project, the 2013-14 International Outreach Program of the Niagara Frontier Reading Council, has enjoyed a robust year of interest and active support among our members. Thanks to all members who donated school supplies and books in Spanish over the past several months.
As the school year draws to a close, please remember this worthwhile initiative. Consider placing bins in your classrooms or hallways for any school supplies students do not want or need. Whatever you are able to collect—from used pencils and notebooks to crayons, rulers, markers, and pens—will be greatly appreciated. Supplies do not need to be new to be donated to the children who attend school in this impoverished nation. Once collected, school supplies and books in Spanish (no books in English, please) should be packed in sturdy boxes (for ease of shipping, please do not overfill) and dropped off at: 10100 Transit Road, East Amherst (14051). The location is just north of North French Road. Drop-offs may be made at anytime. Enter the driveway to the left of the house. Proceed to the shelter at the end of the driveway and deposit items on the tables found there. Please note on the boxes who the donation is from. You can either indicate your name, your school, or Niagara Frontier Reading Council. Packing for shipment to Nicaragua begins in early July, so if you can arrange your drop-off before that date, it would be helpful. If you are unable to make a delivery and would like to arrange for pick-up at your school, Sue Busch has generously offered to transport supplies. She asks that teachers collaborate and consolidate supply collections within districts or between schools to allow pick-ups to be manageable. Call Sue at 873-5657 to make arrangements for pick-up prior to July 1. Other items besides school supplies are always welcome.
