Grade level: Pre-K thru 12 – but mostly at the Elementary level
Favorite Moment: Too numerous to count over the years, but seeing a child’s eyes light up and progress to become a successful, confident, happy reader is still the best!
Why I became a teacher: I always enjoyed working with and helping children. Being a reading teacher allowed me to work with children, as well as helping the other teachers and adults who impacted their lives. It was great to be a part of the team!
Role with NFRC: Currently a Board member, I have served in several capacities including President, President-Elect, Vice President, Corresponding Secretary, Recording Secretary, Delegate to NYSRA, and member of many committees.
Why I enjoy being a member of NFRC: NFRC was a wonderful support while I was teaching for sharing with colleagues and opportunities to learn the latest techniques and current research. I have made many good friends that remain today. I enjoy being part of NFRC to serve present and future teachers.
Years as NFRC Member: At least 25 year member of NFRC, but part of NFRC Board for 16 years.
Fun Facts:: I encourage any educator to become involved with NFRC – reading is the beginning of so many things!
